Media Ambition Tokyo 2019

Collaboration work between noiz+Kunieda’s Voronoi Tatami “TESSE” and projection mapping visuals by Yoshiki Shiraki, created for Media Ambition Tokyo (2019). The projected imagery on the tatami undergoes Voronoi division with each scan, with adjacent cells merging until all units unite, resembling bubbles popping as the divisions intensify. Gradually, the number of cells decreases until reaching zero, marking the end of the visuals. The projection images on the tatami maintain the completed two-dimensional nature of the pattern while recursively performing Voronoi division, depicted solely through variations in light intensity. The reflection of the visuals on the window surface integrates with the city, showcasing the implementation of algorithms akin to those used in TESSE, hinting at the potential for implementation on a larger urban scale.
