データ活用の分野で業界をリードするIT企業の、技術者向けのイベント・プレゼンテーションを行うためのオープンスペースを併設したフラッグシップオフィスの内装設計です。
自社の技術力や創造性を対外的に示す場として、あるいは技術者同士のコミュニケーションを誘発する場として、空間の床・壁・天井の至るところにLEDディスプレイが埋め込まれ、それらを統合的にまとめる強い空間のアイデンティティが求められました。
ここでは仮想的な無数の面を、オフィスビルのグリッドを切り裂くように設定し、その断面線としての光のラインをあたかも情報空間を行きかうデータのように縦横無尽に交錯させて、情報を扱う企業ならではアイデンティティを表現したいと考えました。
斜めに横断する直線によって、会議室やサーバー室、工作機器室などの各諸室がボリュームとして切り出されるだけでなく、その界面を形成するガラス面によって、複雑な反射と奥行き感を生み出し、透過LEDディスプレイなどの視覚効果をまじえて、実と虚が重なりあい連続する空間になっています。
また、その直線の壁は一部が、アメーバのような有機的な曲面によって浸食され、テレカンブースや、什器として自律的な機能が与えられています。この曲面には構造色フィルムが貼られており、色彩を変化させながら周辺環境を歪める効果があり、直線を基調にした空間をトポロジカルに変換し、あたかも仮想世界の鏡のような感覚を与えることを意図しています。
空間を構成する素材や形、色彩などの要素を意図的に異質なものの組み合わせで対比させ、ここに集う技術者の創造性を刺激し柔軟な発想を促すものとしたいと考えました。

NOIZ has completed the interior design for an innovative laboratory of a leading IT company in Tokyo. The company specializes in the field of data utilization and wanted to create not only workspace but also a communication space for engineer-oriented events and the education of younger generation engineers.

An inspiring space to both showcases the company’s technological capabilities and innovative spirit was, therefore, crucial to this project. Our design proposal sought to create a vibrant spatial concept with non-orthogonal floor planning and a diachronic color scheme that felt fresh and stimulating.

For starters, we applied a large number of hypothetical surfaces into the space, as if they were cutting through the regular grid of office buildings. We then utilized the cross-sections of the planes to define various zones and set up the floor plan. Tube lights were applied on the resulting lines to create luminous traces that resembled the image of data coursing dynamically through an information space, while LED displays were embedded throughout the floors, walls, and ceilings of the space to reinforce the communicative functions. In addition, the straight lines that diagonally traverse the space not only carve out various rooms like conference rooms, server rooms, and equipment rooms as volumes, but also create complex reflections and a sense of depth through glass surfaces that form their interfaces. Combined with visual effects like transparent LED displays, reality and illusion overlap and continue seamlessly in the space.

Furthermore, portions of the straight walls are invaded by amoeba-like organic curved surfaces, which serve autonomous functions as teleconference booths and fixtures. These curved surfaces are covered with structural color film, which has the effect of distorting the surrounding environment while changing color, transforming the linear-based space into a topological one, creating the sensation of a virtual mirror.
By intentionally contrasting the materials, shapes, colors, and other elements that make up the space through heterogeneous combinations, we hoped to stimulate the creativity of the engineers who gather here and encourage flexible thinking.
